Texas Daughters of the American Revolution (TXDAR) Juniors (18-36 years old) volunteer in many capacities across the state all throughout the year but every January we get together for a single group volunteer project.  Our 2018 beneficiary was the Center of Hope Polk County Food Pantry in Livingston, Texas (https://www.centerofhopepolk.org/).

Armed with sneakers and a good heart, 35 TXDAR Juniors organized and categorized most of their current client files, sorted and inventoried hundreds of non-perishable food donations, prepped over 100 mailings and informational pamphlets, and beautified their bulletin boards (comprised of recipes, job postings, and other local services for Center clients).  We also donated 326 pounds of food, including dozens of boxes of their client’s favorite – Hamburger Helper and Tuna Helper!

We assisted with several weeks of their work within two hours; the Center was ecstatic and so grateful for our help.  The director had tears in her eyes as she hugged us stating, “I wish more groups would volunteer like this.  This is wonderful!”
