Ed Butler accepting speechThe DAR Medal of Honor celebrates exceptional Americans who have made unusual and lasting contributions to our American Heritage and who have demonstrated the extraordinary qualities of leadership, trustworthiness, service and patriotism.  Judge Edward F. Butler, a retired federal Judge and veteran of both the United States Air Force Reserve and the United States Navy Reserve, was sponsored for the DAR Medal of Honor by the San Antonio de Bexar Chapter.  Judge Butler was presented the medal at the Texas Society’s 2018 State Conference.

Judge Butler, an acclaimed author with law, family history, and travel books, as well as dozens of legal and travel articles to his credit, has displayed a lifelong and unwavering service to our nation’s laws and most precious document, the Constitution of the United States, and he has made extraordinary efforts to preserve America’s history. Among his many publications are two non-fiction books which illustrate the important role of Spain in support of the thirteen colonies. Judge Butler has successfully organized various lineage organizations and he has held leadership positions in numerous lineage societies, veterans support organizations, civic, fraternal and legal associations.  In July 2009, Judge Butler was elected President General, National Society Sons of the American Revolution.
